Previously I lived in Sweden for nearly 20 years and my quest there was to hybridize auriculas to produce ever better plants suitable for the harsh Swedish climate. Whilst living there I also created and run Sweden’s Auricula Club. I've now returned to England to continue growing auriculas together with my daughter-in-law, Iris. Iris is also an enthusiastic & skilful Iris grower; many of her wonderful Irises can be seen on this blog.

Swedish BIRGITTA sits comfortably in English Auricula Pot
BIRGITTA in Whichford Auricula Pot
I’m trying some new Auricula Pots; these are hand made in England by The Whichford Pottery. Being handmade each one is just slightly individual, they are guaranteed frostproof and circa 10cm in size, perfect for my display plants. (More details about the pots can be found at www.westgarden.se ). I will be taking a few of them planted up with my Auriculas to The Nordic Garden show in Stockholm.
You can see that BIRGITTA has now developed a light coating of farina on her blooms.
