Previously I lived in Sweden for nearly 20 years and my quest there was to hybridize auriculas to produce ever better plants suitable for the harsh Swedish climate. Whilst living there I also created and run Sweden’s Auricula Club. I've now returned to England to continue growing auriculas together with my daughter-in-law, Iris. Iris is also an enthusiastic & skilful Iris grower; many of her wonderful Irises can be seen on this blog.

Two BRITT-MARIES & No.29
It was minus 2°C
last night with a heavy frost; this will be the last picture of seedling No. 29 for this
year as it is now getting too cold for the buds to open any more.
The two BRITT-MARIE divisions were exposed to
the frost in one of my open cold frames and they do not seem too worried about
it. BRITT-MARIE is particularly hardy
semi double border I have crossed. I keep my frames open until the first snows
come or if the day temperature gets really cold, it’s more important that they
are kept on the dry side & well ventilated. I do of course shut the lids when
